In every relationship, there’s a lot of give and take.
Most of the time you might feel it is all you doing the giving.
But would that be accurate?
You see, everyone gives to others in their own ways.
Your partner’s giving strategy may be totally different from yours.
Maybe now is a good time to clear the air and see how you both contribute to each other’s happiness.
There are many levels to the Relationship Matrix.
My favorite finding in my research is this:
MIScommunication is simply MISSED communication.
Everyone tells you what they want and need.
They just do it in their own language.
It is your job to learn to speak theirs.
Sometimes, that language of giving is service, words, gifts, closeness, and/or physical touch.
This is straight from The 5 Love Languages, by Dr. Gary Chapman.
How someone gives their love to you may just be in small increments and little things that you may not even realize they are doing.
Maybe she’s leaving little trinkets around to show you she loves you (gifts).
Maybe he is telling you you are pretty and smart (words).
What if your partner just wants to be close to you and hold hands?
Maybe they are cleaning the house, cooking some meals, or spraying a nice air freshener after they poop (service).
These are all little signs of their love for you.
But if you blink, ya might just miss it.
So, keep an eye out for the little things.
These can show you how they give and receive love.
And how you can show them your love, in their language.
